Is it true that all Mini DV tapes are the same - there's no such thing as a blank PAL or NTSC tape, does this mean I can buy mini dv tapes anywhere in the world and it will work with my camera?

  1. you are right, a blank tape is a blank tape its only when something is put on it, there is a difference. so you can buy mini dv tapes anywhere in the world and they are the same only quality of the tape is differient, you get what you pay for


  2. it is also true of analog video tape, although with VHS, pal and ntsc have different total tape running time. A lot of care was taken in developing the miniDV system to make it usable world-wide.

  4. yes it is true.  A tape is a tape.  Its your camera that decides how many frames per second the recording will run at, hence the making of PAL and NTSC cameras.
