  1. No indeed!  Those who've eaten Greek and Lebanese food generally LOVE it!  Like me!

hummus, falafel, kibbe, baba ghanoush, shishkabob, chicken shwarma, feta salad, green lentil soup w/ lemon.... I'll take it ALL!

  2. No

  3. Yes, its true, most americans don't eat that stuff.

  4. No its not true

  5. No and yes: You do have some Americans who aren't open to trying foods that they are not familiar with.  This is probably associated to not being exposed to different foods and a closed-minded attitude.  But there are many Americans who do indeed enjoy these dishes and live in areas where the ingredients and cuisine are easily accessible.  I'm American of French descent, and in my case, I absolutely ADORE Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine.  I regularly cook chicken and shrimp curry with basmati rice and have made rotis a few times.  I LOVE hoummus, gyros, falafels, palak paneer and am willing to try any foods that I haven't heard of before.  Research continues to show the health benefits of foods from these regions.  Besides, with the spices used, these dishes taste SOOO much better than say, mashed potatoes with gravy.

  6. Americans eat everything.  We like stuff from all over the world.

  7. No! Of course it doesn't come under everyday eating, but there are so many restaurants where you can get that stuff! A couple of my friends have parents who know how to cook 'ethnic' food.

  8. No.

  9. No, we eat it all...can't you tell with everyone saying we are the "most obese nation?" We loooooove it!!! I know I do, with xtra tahini on it.

  10. I eat that stuff when I go out to eat (at the restaurants that have it). I'm sure it's not as great since it isn't as authentic, but it's still good.

But some Americans don't want to try different ethnic foods, so there aren't a lot of places that offer it...

  11. did someone ask this?

siham deli in fullerton on st. college blvd. was my favorite til it was sold.
