  1. they don't have rectums as such what they have is called a vent it is the slit in their tail, it is a multi function vent used for weeing pooing and in the case of females that is where their eggs come out of, in the case of males it is where their sexual organs are kept, as for herpes turtles can get herpes but it is not the same sort as humans get so poses no threat to us

  2. I don't know about herpes, but of course they have rectums.  How else is it going to p**p?

  3. I agree with Courage all reptiles have a cloaca which will excrete both urine and f***s. (also serves as a place for reproduction ie. place for the genitals).

Just an FYI, almost all species can contract their own form of herpes. (Humans, cats, dogs, dolphins, horses, and turtles/ tortoises included.) It doesn't mean they already have it though.

Here is a link that talks about the virus family:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpesvirid...

Usually, herpes will debilitate a chelonian. Normally there will be a lack of appetite, goopy white or yellow discharge from the eyes, and inspissated pus build-up in the mouth (thick white stuff). If you suspect your brown wood turtles has herpes then contact your local reptile veterinarian. (www. ARAV.org)

  4. Well... I know that sea turtles have been having human herpes and dying at pretty hard rates.  As for rectums, only mammals have a r****m.  Turtles have a cloaca.

The herpes virus has been responsible for tumors on the sea turtles.  The second link talks about it.  The first talks about the cloaca.

What I don't know is if Brown Wood Turtles specifically have herpes.
