Question:

Is it true that Bush can declare martial law and cancel the 2008 election?

I already saw someone posted a question like this, but I want to ask in more detail.

I heard that concentration camps have been set up in America, and if martial law is declared, they can put anyone in these concentration camps just because they think you may be a "terrorist" without any evidence.

And of course, if you don't already know, there is no such thing as terrorists[do your research on conspiracy theories], and the government knows it, so they'd be knowingly arresting tons of innocent people.

It could turn into another holocaust.

What are the chances of this happening?

How many people know about this?

If it does happen, wouldn't it be stopped soon afterward?

Is there anything WE can do to stop it?

  1. yes. support the 2nd Amendment.

Adolf Hitler: "The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the occupied Russian territories, and a system of military strong-points must be evolved to cover the entire occupied country." Adolf Hitler, dinner talk on April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitler's Table Talk 1941-44: His Private Conversations, Second Edition (1973), Pg. 425-426. Translated by Norman Cameron and R. H. Stevens.

  2. Bush WOULDN'T do that due to the fact that everyone will hate him for life and that he'd go down in history for a being the ignorant little b**ch that he was...or is. haha.

Even if he did, the congress and the government won't allow a dictator to rise...trust me. If they're desperate as they were during FDR's times where they listened to his every demand, they would for a while.

  3. Yes!  Of course, any president can declare marital law at any time in view of a national emergency.

However, I'd suggest the more effective timing would be after the election but before the inauguration.

This Bush administration already learned how to up-end election results before the beginning of their first term in Florida!

  4. yes he can.  observe:

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/...

Translated into layman's terms, when the president determines a national emergency has occurred, the president can declare to the office of the presidency powers usually assumed by dictators to direct any and all government and business activities until the emergency is declared over.

  5. yes he can.

What are the chances of this happening?

I figure that if they cant rig the election to elect McCain then they will do it if obama will really hold them to account.

How many people know about this?

plenty. most of them have been called nuts though.

If it does happen, wouldn't it be stopped soon afterward?

Only if the people rose up to stop it. the democrats wont. and the military is controlled by the very elements that are behind it.

Is there anything WE can do to stop it?

Make a stand against the cabalists running both parties.

  6. No he cannot. Such power is reserved for the Congress which means Congress may vest the President with wide authority in the event of a national emergency which threatens the continuation of government. This is a critical aspect to the granting of such powers. Where the “privilege” of the writ of habeas corpus is concerned, the Federal government is at liberty to deny it whenever national security deems necessary, so says the Constitution.

To my knowledge it has only been done two times since ratification of the Constitution: during the Civil War and during WWII.

  7. about 70-30 For it happening

congress and a lot of talk radio people

once it goes,it will be very hard to get them to lift it

no...if they want to grab power,we as citizens will be rounded up if we speak out too loud

and yes,it IS very true..think about this...Denver is expecting over 50,000 protesters for the convention in August..the City Fathers have declared that there will be no no camping or otherwise hanging out within the city limits..there have been no provisions made for port a johns or other facilities to handle this many people...Colorado has the largest number of the new relocation camps....In concert with state and local authorities,Denver SWAT teams have been practicing riot control, complete with Black Helicopters, ninja tactics etc etc.....still think it cant happen?

  8. All Presidents since Washington have had that power.  Lincoln came closest to using it.

  9. yes it is true, mccain will carry it on , obama will also carry it on the only candidate that wiull stop it is bob barr

its your choice  on who you vote for but if you worry about that like i do, you already know where my vote is going

i dont think i beleive that bush would do that, i dont think mccain or obama would either however, id rather not find out i was wrong about that..lol

  10. I don't know how old you are or where you obtain your information but I advise you to do some serious reading about martial law, concentration camps, etc.  Martial law could appear in the USA if the situation was dire enough to warrant it and yes, the president can declare it.  But remember, the situation must be very, very dire.  As far as the other information in your question, forget it.  It has no credibility in the USA unless we change our Congressional structure and do many other things to prevent people from acting against unjust laws.  Terrorists do exist in the USA and elsewhere and they adhere to the Jihad section of the Koran.

They are radicals who rewrote the words of the Koran into a means to attack the USA and Israel.  This can be proven beyond any question of a doubt.

  11. Sorry, don't see it happening  No need to worry about it this election, but if Obama get elected, then worry big time!  He would use that power to become a dictator.  He does't care about you, or me, only himself and power.

  12. No. No he cannot.

  13. They know about you now. everything you do on the internet is recorded and spy sattelites are focusing in on your house as you wrote that question. There is nothing you can do . they will be breaking down your door to take you away and put you in a camp. All is lost! Oh, the humanity!!!

  14. Maybe the president could declare martial law, but then he'd have to have support from the military. I don't foresee a junta in America.

But, just so you'll have something to think about... The Nixon-Mundt Act (HR#5852, 1948) authorized for all "communists" to be interned in unspecified concentration camps. This federal law is still on the books, but never used.

  15. Bush has issued an 'executive order' giving himself the right to take over the entire government, and the media, in the case of an 'emergency'.  And also, according to the order, he is the one who gets to decide what constitutes an 'emergency'.

This is not a proper law, passed by Congress, it is a unilateral 'executive order' which Bush issued all on his own.  It is certainly not constitutional for a president to take over the whole government.  But Bush has shown complete disregard for the constitutional limits of his powers so far.

So the question really is: Could he get away with it?  And that remains to be seen.  I tend to think he couldn't.  But he never ceases to astonish me with his arrogance and high-handed action, and also to what lengths the Republicans will go to keep control of the White House.  I mean we have had two questionable elections in a row now--we may already have lost our democracy in the US.

Some people theorize that after McCain loses the election, or maybe just before the election if McCain is trailing in the polls, Bush might pull off some terrorist action a la 9/11, then decide that we can't have a change of leaders just now. He would cancel the election, or postpone it indefinitely, and more or less declare himself 'president for life'.

I just don't see that happening.  But then I didn't think Bush could get elected in the first place (and I was right about that!  He DIDN'T get elected!)

  16. Yes it is true, and what is disturbing is all the signing statments he has signed, all the laws congress passed in midnight sessions, the executive orders Bush has signed....

And yes Haliburton built prisons and Bush can be the sole decider if you are a terrorist or threat to national security, what is and is not a national emergency that he can invoke martial law for,  the new laws take that power away from the courts, congress and other military people....

Have you noticed how many large city police departments are starting to carry automatic weapons and other military hardware, there is no need for that kind of stuff.....now at least.

What does he need this "power grab" for "if" he is leaving office..?

Frankly It wouldn't surprise me if he tried to start WW3 by the time he "leaves" office, Iran is already looking good to him...

  17. Nope; that's the stuff of the Chicken -Little school.

At least Bush used the law (the then liberal Supreme Court) to stop the Dems from stealing the election in Florida in 2000.
