Is it true that Festus Used to be the old Kane???

At one point in 2006 the WWE had come upwith this idea that we were supposedly seeing Kane facing his "former self" as if it were a real incarnation of what he was seeing in his head.  It was stupid, though, as the idea really only worked on-screen, and in public it was just "imposter Kane."

The person who played this "Kane" was none other than our lovable inbred hick, Festus.  At the time, Freakin' Deacon (Festus in the WWE's then-sister federation OVW) was to be brought up to the WWE as two different characters.  One being "Kane" and another being the person that Kane was going to think was being "Kane" ...  dumb, right?

The gimmick lasted three weeks, and WWE realized it wasn't working, so they dropped it on a Hard Stop.  Thank goodness, too.  Because then Jesse and Festus would have never happened...  and that would have sucked.
