  1. Do you think the government knows how to run things well?  Like maybe the Veteran's Administration?  Or FEMA?

  2. Yeah, the idea is to outsource just about all of the gov't functions and to use taxpayer money to pay the independent contractors.

  3. USPS is already semi-private (it used to be public), but if it's completely taken over by private interests then I think that prices will go up and the quality of service will go down.  They were the only thing keeping UPS, FedEx and other private companies efficient and competitive price-wise!  If they completely privatize, I think there will be mergers and "trusts" where companies work together to set prices instead of letting the market forces decide.

Boo: That's not true.  Cities not using private companies for energy are paying lower prices for electricity.  And without all the blackouts (which raise prices and which Enron did after the privatization scam of public utlities companies--it was supposedly to make prices more "competitve," but actually did the opposite!).  Privatizing everything we have is the worst thing you can do!

  4. That is just redik-uh-luss (in the words of Charles Barkley)

  5. No, but I'm sure that KBR or Halliburton would do a bang up job, Bush only has 5 more months to s***w America.

  6. This effort has been going on since the days of Ross Perot who made a big push for it.  It would be wise to make it private.  When the government has their hands in anything it always costs us more money.

  7. The President does not have that sort of authority. The President can make recommendations or express ideas, but can not just decide to privatize the USPS.

The demise of the USPS has been going on since I was hired.

  8. Stranger things have happened.  This is one of the reasons I can not commit to being republican and why I chose to stay independent.  The foundation of the republican party was LESS government.  It seems they have lost touch with the founding principles of their party and become more like democrats with more government involvement.
