Is it true that I can claim any ethnicity I have in my background regardless of percentage?

Like I would be 1/2000 German and it would be correct to say that I'm part German? This is an example.

  1. You have already asked pretty much the same question a few minutes ago and I answered you the first time.

  2. Only if you can prove it. I think I'm 1/2000th German lol.

  3. You are what you are. Your heritage is unique to you.  If you had one full blooded German ancestor in your line 12 generations ago, then yes,  you would be part German and yes, you could claim to have some German in your ancestry. It would be by NO means  all of your ancestry or even a significant percentage, but it would be there nonetheless.

Why  you would only  want to claim the part you are 1/2096 of, I don't know.    I'm sure you could find other interesting ancestors that you would want to "claim" without having to "claim" the ethnicity of your  ninth great grandparent. It seems to me like your question is trying to nitpick a previous answer, but missing the point of it entirely.
