I would think so.  Given that it is a small-claims court based show who would to go on the show if they are going to have to pay their own way.  A decent number of people would probably end up paying more than they are suing for just to appear on the show.  Plus, if I am the one being sued why would I agree to go on the show if I had to pay my own way?  Who in their right mind would agree to shell out hundreds of dollars for the opportunity to appear on TV and lose even more money?

Judge Judy pays for nothing. The sponsors of her show pay

for certain expenses.

I have heard that you do get paid a small amount for being on tv. Maybe airfare is included. But the whole amount is not included.
