Is it true that Limewire is being tracked?

Question

Because quite a few of my friends have said it's being tracked and I'm thinking Dammit.

Any truth in this one?

Only if your with virgin, i tried to close my account with virgin because of this and they begged me to stay

I been using Limewire.com since November, 2004 & I had no problem downloading music tracks.Then using my CD Burner Program(Sonic Record Now), to find those tracks that I drag & drop to create the list I can put on a CD-R, for my own personal listening pleasure.

It could be, what I suggest that you do is un-install Limewire, and install Frostwire or Blubster, both of these programs are much safer to use than Limewire...enjoy

probably is true to a certain extent.

If you are downloading on a reasonably small scale and not a big time sharer you are reasonably safe, they want to catch the big fish, but watch out!

Most of the broadband providers have or are signing up to an agreement that will attempt to stop file sharing that infringes on copyright laws. Any one with Limewire or alternatives downloaded on to their computer will be checked by the ISP if they try to transfer files through it. If you are shown to be exchanging music then ISP will send you a letter threatening to disconnect you.

As yet I haven't heard of anyone being disconnected but threatening letters have been sent. There are plans to draw up a blacklist of repeat offenders to make it difficult for them to sign up to another ISP after being booted off another network.

Yeh it is, we got a warning letter from out Broadband Service Provider
