Is it true that Myspace/360/Facebook & other similar sites make their money by selling information about you?

I've just been told this recently

Apparently its in the small print..

  1. Not really.  They make most of their $$ from advertising.


  2. Facebook does sell information to 3rd parties.  It is not fine print but is available at www.facebook.com/policy.php

  3. There is a "privacy policy" at the bottom of their pages. They claim that they do not share personal information.

  6. Well apparently they make money from ads promoting to teens and young adults. As they are there alot.

Not sure about that, but I think that you should only put the sort of information that you would tell a complete stranger, such as, at a bus stop, on sties like these, it's too easy to give information to the wrong people, Identity theft is rife, and all these people have to do is troll around these sites to glean lots of information on you!
