Is it true that New Zealanders love butter?

I just heard on a radio program about a claim, by some researcher in New Zealand, that New Zealanders consume more butter than any other nationality. (The man was complaining that butter is "poison" and should be taxed to discourage its consumption.) If the claim is true, why do they?

  1. I was bought up on butter and have lived aa healthy life . I love my hot buttered toast. There's always someone out there ready to jump on something and give it a bad name. It's natural dairy produce and we have a choice of many margarines with many additives in , but like everything if we eat to much of a product and not enough other goodness we will eventually suffer, so everything in moderation. Butter is always plentiful in New Zealand and priced reasonably

  2. i doubt its true.....

only a population of 4 or 5 million in NZ.

Australia has 21 million, America has much more and Britan, and France.....that guy is telling a lot of Bullsh*t and I wouldnt listen to him again.

yes, massive dary industry that exports to around the world...but the Kiwis cant eat more butter than the USA!

  3. Because there is a huge dairy industry in NZ

Also butter is a natural product take unpasteurised milk & a bit of salt & churn

the other spreads are slightly more artificial.

  4. whoever the person is above me...!!

they wouldve worked the statistics out on a per capita base. duhh, good work.

and mainly because we can. we use it to grease frypans and i use it when cooking silverbeet. and on sandwiches. its just because its plentiful so we find a use for it!
