This is totally out of curiosity...

I'm nearly 17 and I've never had more than three pimples.

But for those of you that have or have had acne, is it true that Proactiv is actually really bad for your skin?

What results did you get by using it?

  1. Different acne meds work for different people.

All over the counter is the same. Benzoyl or Salicylic. They're all the same strength too. So you can go buy Clean and Clear, and it'll have the same strength as Neutrogena and Acnefree and Proactiv, it's just the other little things they add. Like Aloe etc.

For me, Proactiv works, but doesn't. It prevents but won't treat. So I use other stuff too.

  2. it works its just you have to keep on applying it cause if you don't your acne will come back

  3. ive heard  that it works very well but once you stop using it, the acne comes back

  4. i tried using proactiv for a year and all it did was dry out my skin in some spots.. other than that it didnt do anything, i still had all the acne

  5. It works for some people, and it doesn't work for others.

It worked really well for one of my friends and it didn't work so well with another one.

  6. Proactiv does not work alone using a multiple amount of creams plus a antibiotic will rid of that acne over a month speak to a dermatologist and he'll give you a cream and antibiotic and tell you to use something like Proactiv also.

  7. I use proactive every morning and night. It keeps my face pretty much clear. Still some acne here and there, but not big and not very noticable. If i don't use it, then i break out, so obviously it's doing something right. So i would say it works =]

  8. It made my skin feel like a baby's butt. i don't know if ur into that kinda stuff, but yea, w/e floats your boat missy

  9. Depends on the person. For most people i works

  10. It's all about your skin type.  I have been using Proactive for 8 years and I love it.  My skin is clear with only the occasional pimple.  Plus my face is smooth and soft.  But I had very oily skin so that fact that proactive dries out the skin really impressed me and worked well with my face.

They do say that it won't work for everyone and that is why they offer the money back guarantee.  I know people who hate it because it did nothing for them other than make their face flaky.  It's all a matter of trial and error to find out what works for you.

  11. FOR SOME PEOPLE IT WORK

  12. The combination of Tea Tree Oil soap and the Clindamycin cream is the best for Acne and pimple.

For acne scars and blemishes my wife use  papaya kojic and licorice base soap and cream which are available online. These work wonders. Maybe it will work on you too. Try searching it through Google 'shopaholic's bargains'

  13. It's a product that sells mainly through advertisement. And then referred to others.

    I wouldn't use it.

  14. It sounds like you and I were in similar situations.  I think my skin matured later than usual, as it seems yours is as well.  I started getting pimples in my early 20s - like when I was 18/19/20.  My skin was always super clean and comparable to porcelain, but later I developed some bumps, pimples, and redness.  It wasn't bad, but for me, a disaster to my always clear skin!  I tried Proactive, and my skin got worse.  Those pimples that did develop dried out and remained on my face as scars, costing me tons of money to remove my scars from a professional dermatologist.   My skin was red often and always dry all seasons, something very uncommon for me.  I stopped Proactive because it only harmed and aggravated my skin.  I now use Clearasil and it is working wonders; my dermatologist also recommended that product.

    Good luck!

  15. It makes you break out but then it works really well. It clears up your skin completely after the breakout part

  16. 3 pimples, far your so luckey! I use it, now my skin is really good XD!

  17. omigod, yes it works! i love it!

it feels like a big puffy cloud =)

but Clearasil also works. what can i say, i'm in love with two people? lol.

  18. I used it for  half a year and it didnt do anything. i wasted my time and my money on it. i kept breaking out every day as usual. however it does work for some people. not all tho. i find my skin responds best to over the counter stuff like clearsil.

  19. i'm almost 17 as well, and I got proactiv when i was 15?

I don't have serious acne but when I stress out it shows.

It dries out the skin and so yes, the acne goes away all the way (for the first month)

then my skin got really used to it and it started to stop working

even though the refining mask works all the time

  20. my daughter is using proactiv.  it is working for her.   you have to try it for yourself.  not all skin types are the same.  if it works good for you, good, if not stop using it.
