  2. Scotland was an independent kingdom until 1603, and an independent country up to 1703. When the Scottish parliament voted to become part of Great Britain.

  3. The problem has been  that in the pre devolution era Britain /the United Kingdom the government was centralised at Westminster . Because of the population imbalance between the constituent countries ( England has 84% of the population of the UK  ) , the interests of the other three suffered in more ways than one . The establishment of devolved power in Scotland , Wales and Northern Ireland has , in my opinion , nullified many of the disadvantages . Problems still remain such as the inability of the BBC to adjust to change . Remember that a hundred years ago pressure was being exerted to use the term North Britain rather than Scotland . Imagine if that was tried today !

  4. England is Scotland's sub basement.

  5. What a load of shite.  You don't deserve to call yourself scottish.

  6. I am English and i like the Scottish. What would happen to our great nation if we separated. We would became weak and venerable to Invasion. you are not Scottish, but a silly little boy who wants to get a reaction out of the Scots. Scottish people i apologize for this poor excuse of a Englishman. He is probably a Muslim anyway. I like the Scottish because My grandads platoon was pinned down by the Germans in the second world war. Both sides could not move because they would get plowed down by the other side. They had been fighting night and day for about two days. My Grandad was in charge of communications. He called for help. They where running out of ammunition. And finely the Scottish came marching playing there bagpipes. the Germans did not no what could be so confident, so in fear they retreated. My Grandad owed his life to the Scottish, so do i.
