That is not really true.

The main reason there is less black people playing rugby there, is because rugby is played mostly by white kids in SA, while the black population plays soccer (football) more.

It would be true to say that black players do not have the size needed in the forwards but it hasn't stopped players like Chester Williams, Breytan Paulse, and Deon Kayse playing at the top level. The current players don't seem to take a backward step either. The chosen sport for most South African blacks seems to be soccer.

Yes, but the selections there are based on race, not ability ,that`s why most are in the national team, along with the coach.

SA rugby will go downhill from now, watch the exodus of white players to other countries and who can blame them.

Myself and a growing number of fans  will not watch any rugby games where SA are involved.

even with a blacks coach, 6 blacks were used so far so i would say that SA blacks are not build for rugby apart from some wingers. i would say SA blacks prefer football. but did you know that the best natural rugby players are samoan, tongan and NZ maori??

i call BS on your study. where is the link to it. and more importantly, when was this study done?

theres quite a lot of stupid people spouting ignorance as truth. there is no single type of build for a rugby player. they come short and stocky to tall and skinny and everything in between. and south african blacks run the gamut of those body types.

anybody who has been to natal/ kwazulu in south african CANNOT say blacks are not built to play in the forwards. them folks are big boned in that region of south africa.

my mom is a black south african. my dads family is originally from south africa, and black too. i play forward, and im black. ive played every single position on the field, primarily flank/ number 8. but i can and have played every single position. and im one of the few people on my team who can fit into any position without extensive training coaching.  

moreover, my twin brother, who used to play wing for our high schools 2nd team and was a first team sub, weighs about 340 lbs right now. dont tell me he couldnt be a prop. or a lock. everyone always asks him if he plays (american) football now (we have lived in the united states for the last 15 years) because of his size.

theres a south african prop, originally born in zimbabwe like myself, whose nickname is "beast." not A beast, not THE beast, simply beast with no prefix. a friendof mine who played on the zim schools team had the nickname gwara (shona language for vulture. for his scavenging ways) how dare you insinuate that we cant play forward.

watch out for south african rugby when the blacks have been playing it all thier lives instead of just picking it up if they go to former white only schools like i did. the black kids from the townships i lived in  who were superior athletes to me all preferred soccer to rugby. if they had played rugby i would not have been good enough to play on any of my schools A squads.

i suggest the lot of you do some research and get your facts straight before you open your mouths and display your ignorance.
