Is it true that a bigger car runs better than a small one at high-altitude?

I rented a car from Enterprise in Albuquerque, NM last week. I booked a compact car with a GPS system on their website. A few weeks later at the time of pick-up I was told that they do not have any GPS system available. Instead they recommended Standard or Full Size without a GPS system. A woman at the counter said that a bigger car might cost me more, but I end up saving on gas at this high-altitude. Is it true? The total cost was about the same as my original booking, but I just wonder if I was ripped off by unnecessary upgrade. Any input please?

  1. dont really understand your question, but a bigger car does run better than a small car because it has more mass in high altitude and most big cars have decent big engines, so it helps them even more.

  2. Bigger cars have bigger engines and suspensions. Regardless of the altitude, bigger cars run better than smaller ones. Just a piece of advise: turn off the AC when climbing to a higher altitude, it will save you 25% gas consumption.
