  1. It is true that lake water could be made more acidic by gases from a volcano dissolving in it.  Several different gases that are released from a volcano would do this.  Some acid rain is a result of these gases in the atmosphere.

    However, it would take a lot of gas to greatly influence a lake of any size.


  2. Yes, if the volcano gives out a large amount of hydrogen sulfide or sulfur dioxide.
