Is it true that aeroplanes eject excess fuel when landing?

I have heard that this is the case but does it cover all flights

  1. They don't dump fuel for standard, normal landings. But if an emergency landing is imminent, the captain will dump any excess fuel not needed for the landing, in order to prevent an explosion in the event of a belly landing, or other type of abnormal/crash landing. A belly landing in a jetliner causes an extreme amount of sparking, as you can imagine. If I were a passenger during one of these landings, I'd want the fuel tanks as empty as possible!


  2. not entirely, only if its an emergency and only if its a fighter..their the only ones that have external fuel tanks..
