Is it true that alawiyyin is the descendants of ali ibn abi thalib?

and i am wondering is it the alawite family in syria (bashar al assad) are the same with alawiyyin family in hadramaut and hashemite in jordan

  1. You'll find descendents of Ali in all sects.


  2. The Alawites in Syria are NOT the same with Alawiyyin in Hadramaut or Hashemites in Jordan, Iraq and Hijaz. Historically, The Alawites in Syria called Nusayrīyyah. They have been designated as "extremists" (Arabic: غلاة ghulat) and outside the bounds of Islam by the Muslim mainstream. Most Sunni scholars do NOT consider them Muslims. Even many scholars of the twelver Shia do not consider the Alawites of Syria Muslims.

    I myself am an Alawi from Hadramaut.

  3. Yes they are all related, date farmers and goat herders originally all having practiced water hole oasis laws prior to modern times.  Their ancestry goes back thousands of years.

    BTW  I have been to Hadramaut in Yemen and it is a sight to see. . .as ancient as time.
