  1. The rear projection TV's do have a bulb that can burn out, but they usually last for several thousands of hours of use.  

    Plasma and LCD TV's do not have this lamp, so they have no user replaceable parts, and should last for a many thousands of hours of use.


  2. I have had my Samsung CRT 1080i HDTV for 5 years and it has been solid, not even a single problem. Buy a quality TV (Samsung, Sony, Toshiba) and expect better results...Buy a Westinghouse, Maxent, or Polaroid and expect problems.

  3. If you buy a cheap brand and get 2 yrs out of it you have done well , but if you buy a Sony or Samsung or any other top brand name TV you should get around 10 yrs out of the TV.

    This is one of the reasons behind the price differences between the brands.

  4. Not true, I've had mine four years and still working fine.
