  2. It's mainly true in France. But there are some streets where it's not (eg. around the exhibition area at Porte de Versailles),

    Only some parking is free in August - check the parking meters to know whether it is in your particulary street. It varies from one street to the next. Many people don't know it, so end up with parking fines.

    As for Switzerland, better ask in the Swiss section of Yahoo

  3. It is in France but only for the street parking, underground parkings (privately owned all of them) are still paying. However you still have some exceptions so it is better to check the free days on the parking meters in the street.
