Is it true that any antivirus that are able to be downloaded on the net is a spam ?

I mean...

what is an unregistered antivirus ?

and what with the registered antivirus ?

And my laptop's got viruses and my friends recommended me to download Kapersky Antivirus but I'm afraid to download it after knowing that any antivirus on the net that are able to be downloaded is a spam and lied / fake

They told me to download Kapersky Antivirus and then neutralize all the viruses

So, how I want to know if the antivirus that I want to download is registered or unregistered ? Or, how to registered ?

  1. dont format your hard disc.... thats useless and it deletes all your data

    i recommend AVG Free 8.0

its free and it actually deletes your viruses when it finds them

just make sure you update it before you scan

  2. WHAT!!!!!!!!

  3. Kapersky Antivirus is one of the best anti-virus in the world but it is not free. You can use it but you must uninstall if you do not intend to pay.

If you want a completely free anti-virus, you can try Clamwin.

ClamWin is a Free Antivirus for Microsoft Windows

that uses the GNU General Public License by the Free Software

Foundation and is free (as in freedom) software.

There is a portable version of ClamWin where it can be install into an USB pendrive.

First use another PC to download Clamwin portable anti-virus

and install Clamwin portable on a USB thumb drive.

Update the latest anti-virus definition files.

Set the preferences to remove virus.

    How to configure ClamWin

When the USB pendrive is ready.

Start the infected PC in safe mode by pressing F8.

Run the Clamwin Anti-virus that is installed on the USB drive to scan the infected PC.

Scan all hard drives for viruses.

  4. Its possible, although i do not reccomend anti virus programs, just stuff that warns you if you have a virus. The problem with anti virus programs nowadays is that one will detect a few and another will detect a completely new set of viruses, trojans, or any other mailicious code.  I HIGHLY reccomend a disk reformat, i sure hope you have the windows disc, Its quick, free, and easy...
