My friend says that if you buy new blades for your skates its gonna feel just as awkward as new skates, and that i am better off buying brand new skates? is this true, or will my skates feel the same if i put new blades on my same skates?

  1. nope. its easier to break into new blades than new skates. since the boot is already worn in, all u have to do is get the feel of the new blade. if u get a blade like phantom, it mite take a day or two to adjust to the blade. but if u go from something like coronation ace to goldstar, ull get used to it in less than an hour!

  2. i think it'll feel better just getting new blades. that way the skate is already broken into but the blades would be new.

  3. if u r looking to save money, buy the blades, and as long as the yare the right size, then they should feel fine.

  4. you'll be able to bend your ankles because they are your old skates, the blades will just feel different and skating wont feel exactly the same (like new boots) but you'll get used to them (just like new boots)

personally i like to buy new boots and keep my old blades until the boots are broken in, then i switch the blades. it makes it a lot easier to break in both separately.

  5. It wouldnt make much of a difference

  6. What kind of boots and blades are you considering?  New blades on old boots will take time to adjust to if the rocker and radius measurement is different, but it's usually not a significant amount of time.  It's not like you have to break them in as you would a new pair of boots.  Your boots will feel the same.  Boot and blade life is usually different, so skaters many times are switching out the boot or blade.  If you get new boots and blades is up to you....your old boot will feel the same, but depending on which blade you get, you may have to adjust a little (usually with spins). :)

  7. there wouldnt be much of a difference, especially if you get the same brand of blades. it also depends on who you get to sharpen your blades.

  8. I never really noticed that mush of a difference with new blades.  Unless you are making a drastic change in blades (like the quality, level, or type such as regular to Paramount) you probably will get used to them fairly quickly.
