  1. Just an urban legend they did this on Myth Busters. They irradiated insects and there was a point when none survived.


  2. They can survive in extreme conditions 40 days headless, in higher radiation level also.

    So they probably would survive nuclear holocaust quite easily. The most successful animal, they live here before the dinosaurs, so they survived a meteor (1000 times of Hiroshima bomb) it takes a lot to kill a cockroach. They like warm and humid conditions.

  3. It's not really just "survive" as most organisms probably would. It's more that with their chitin exoskeleton ability to live almost anywhere and omnivorous eating habits, they're very well equipped to thrive afterwards.
