Is it true that dialing *77 on your cell will connect you to the police?

I heared about story's where, especially women, tried to get pulled over by unmarked police car's and by dialing *77 , you get connected to a police department and they will tell you if a undercover officer is in your area and is trying to follow you. There has been some terribel story's about women got pulled over by criminals.

Yes absolutely.  It is the number for the police.  I just asked a police officer about the unmarked car thing and he said if you are in the middle of nowhere to acknowledge you see him put you flashers on and wait until you are in public eyes.  He also said though that some officers will say you were trying to get away but if you dial *77 it will help them not get angry.  I don't think it's fair for cops to use unmarked cars.  It's way to scary for woman at night and with children.

Why waste your time with *77 when you can dial 911 - they are both only three buttons.  If you are driving and you call 911 the GPS in the phone and towers will automatically connect you to the 911 dispatch for the area that you are in.
