Is it true that diving instructors have to go into the chamber every now and then because of the nitrogen, or can you always have a safe dive and never have to?

Has anyone ever had that experience? I dive, but always have a safe dive.. if I want to become an instructor do I have to be prepared for the chamber every now and then?

  1. I have over 300 dives as an instructor (over 700 total dives).  My wife has nearly 1000 dives and is also an instructor.

Four of our friends all dive seriously (would say they have about 3,000 dives combined).

The shop owners have been diving since 1968.

None of us have ever been to the chamber.  I know of one instructor that went to the chamber but he messed up during a dive that nothing to do with being an instructor.

I am prepared for a chamber ride by having the proper insurance as well as diving safely.
