Now I know some of you have said it can go rancid in a short period of time. Can I grind it and keep it in the freezer to keep it fresh a bit longer?

  6. Yes, flax seed is extremely good for you - helps you stay regular too.

However, flax seed can go rancid and has a use by date of a very short period.

For the same health benefits, try Chia seeds, as they don't go rancid:

  7. i heard it is.

  9. Sure.

As long as it's not rancid.

As long as it's fresh and organic.

    etc.

Heat will generally destroy much of what's good about flax oil and most other oils, so it's not used for cooking, and the same goes for throwing flax seeds into your muffins.  Plus, flax seeds are very small and when eating them whole much will not be chewed and just pass through you undigested.
