I am staying in Malaysia. I heard that higher education in Germany is free. I only need to spend for my accommodation. But to study there I need to pass A1 (this is a known fact).

Please state your comments as well for your answer. Really appreciate the help.

  1. It depends. Some states in germany do charge a study fee (usually around 500 Euro per semester) some don't. In some states, no fee has to be paid for getting the first academic degree, but if you want to get another, you'd have to pay. Other states charge student who take too long to finish.

As far as I know, there are no differences being made between german and foreign students. However, you would need a student visa and pass a language test, plus your school credits need to be recognized as comparable to german standards.

  2. No, higher education in the EU is free for foreign students only if they are EU citizens.  Therefore coming from Malaysia you won't be eligible.  The free education comes from the fact that we (or usually at that age, our parents) pay higher taxes to cover it - if you're parents didn't pay for it you're not going to get (or deserve) the benefit of it.

  3. i have no clue.....but i have heard people that are foreign can basically get a free education in some countries....but im not sure how that is possible or why, i hope that is totally wrong....
