Is it true that horses can carry on running until they drop dead?

my neighbor on the ranch next to me saddled up one of his horses to sort some cattle.he had just turned to start working the cattle when his horse stumbled and fell over on the spot from a heart failure,no warning,nothing,just fell over mid stride.so yes a horse can work themselves to death.

no, they can die whilst running for example Detroit City died in the air jumping a hurdle, quite a few have done, i seen one horse drop dead while it was running of a heart attack, it fell while running and lay motionless, dead.

its horrible, but if it is a thing of stamina they will stop, they wouldnt keep going, unless the rider is an ignorant and greedy bassa.

that is totally false. some horses are actually VERY stubborn and will stop repeatedly to eat leaves and junk

They stop running if they haven't a rider. If they have a rider they'll keep running till they die because the rider is forcing them to.
