If this is true, what can I do to feel better? Besides moving I mean, because I go to school in such a climate. Anything I could eat or drink, perhaps? Change in sleeping habits, maybe? I'm open to anything. Thanks!

  1. It is true , hot humid climates wear you down.  There are some things you an do to overcome it.

First and hardest, lose weight.  Unless you are already underweight.

Switch as much of your life to night time as you can, get long naps in the afternoon.  (The unfortunate Americanization of the tropical countries is undoing this smart custom.)  Until recently people in the tropics slept twice a day, for a total of about 8 hours, supper was served after 9:00 p.m.

DO all your brain work early in the morning, just after waking.

Hot drinks seem to help most people, not cold drinks.  Also hangovers are far worse in the heat.

Eat more frequently in smaller amounts and cut down on heavy protein and fat in your diet.  More fruit, more frequently.

Avoid people that complain about the heat and humidity, they just make it worse.

Dress loosely in natural fabrics that 'breathe.'

Frequently rinse your face, hands and feet with cool water.  Keeping your whole body clean helps a lot, 2 showers a day to avoid skin problems.  Go light on soap, rinse thoroughly, go light on wet deodorants, switch to powder deodorants if possible.

AIr conditioning only helps if it is consistently available.  Do not set thermostats low.  Set them just enough to feel some relief.  If low the contrast between with and without it makes the without it part much worse

Imitate the people already live there.

  2. Definitely true... living in Florida in the Summertime sucks.  Like 100 degrees F outside and 99% humidity.  But fortunately there is air conditioning and mojitos on ice to make it all better.
