I was talking about this with my family, but my brother said mythbusters proved it wasnt true. Was there a mythbusters show on it? Is the legend that human blood attracts sharks true or false?

  1. I saw the Mythbusters, they screwed up.

They used human blood with a small shark that only eats fish. There is no advantage for that shark to sense mammal blood.

They should have tested it on a shark that actually eats mammals.  I would bet the result would have been different.

  2. It's definitely true, sharks are attracked to wounded fish so any blood will draw them

  3. Yes it's true! A shark's sense of smell is very strong!

  4. Nah sharks dont like human blood.  Its usually why you never hear of sharks eating humans whole.  They take a bite and realize the human wasn't what it was hungry for.

  5. Shark can't really see in water so they use smell and electric vibration. If that makes since to you. The blood no doubt will peak his interest and once you see a shark your heart start to pump faster and then you start to send off alot of electric vibration. Which the shark will mistaken you for a big fish and think super time, but it wasn't the shark fault. Also my friend dad he likes to collect fish and one of things he does is deep sea diving and building aquariums, he had a encounter with a shark but stayed very calm and all the shark did was bump him a couple of times and then left.

  6. if water drips in water with sharks near they will be attracted to the scent

  7. actually human blood doesnot attract sharks.

But , suppose we take a case where a person was bit by a shark its because it didnot have clear vision about its prey so it mistook the person to be the prey.

When i saw in discovery channel they said sharks do not have any idea about humans flesh.

  8. Blood of any kind attracts them.
