Is it true that human cells does'nt have mitochondria?

me and my friend are arguing about her statement that mitochondria can only be found among the plants, is that true?

  1. All human cells have mitochondria except red blood cells which don't have a nucleus either. Perhaps this was what he/she was referring to.

  2. Huh!!!!! Is your friend kidding? Mitochondria(a.k.a Power House of the Cell), is one of the most vital organelle of a cell(especially, a eukaryotic cell). It's present both in well-developed Plant Cells as well as in Animal Cells.....(not like in some primitive unicellular cells)

  3. Your friend is wrong. Human cells have mitochondria. Your friend is either referring to chloroplasts or cell walls. Chloroplasts and cell walls are only found among plants.
