  1. It happened to me.

We lived in New Orleans when our son was born, and Hurricane Isidore blew through town on a Thursday.  The following Tuesday, my water broke, even though I was only 37 1/2 weeks along.  Then two days later, Hurricane Lili arrived.  So he ended up being born smack dab in the middle of two hurricanes.

You sometimes see the same phenomenon with blizzards.  It has to do with the rapid drop in barometric pressure, which can bring on labor.

Fortunately, the two storms we had weren't as severe as anything like Katrina, so we decided to stay put.  But if the reports say that you need to evacuate, then you should do so sooner rather than later, especially if you are pregnant.  Good luck, and I hope it passes you by.

  2. The only labor I know is caused by hurricanes is the labor to clean up the mess they leave behind once they're gone.
