Question:

Is it true that if everyone stopped driving for a day, the ozone layer would be mostly restored?

If this is true, then why not create a global no driving day? I know it could be extremely tricky, but if the ozone layer continues to get much worse, desperate times calls for desperate measures. On one day of the year, all the rodes would be closed off for everyone except emergency vehicles. Could this ever work?

  1. THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF DAMAGE CURED IN A DAY?!?!?

  2. maybe  a month

  3. Obviously, this will not work.  Also, the ozone layer is not significantly worse than it was in the 18th century, so there is no cause for alarm.

Finally, driving has no impact on the ozone layer.  Cholorflourocarbons (CFCs) are what people usually say damage the ozone layer.

  4. hahahhaa.  That is not true.  =]

  5. Not at all. Ozone (O3) is created in the extreme upper atmosphere by solar wind and electrical discharge.

  6. GOD was smart enough to put the ozone layer high enough that there is nothing man can do about it.The ozone layer is formed when the solar wind collides with the earth's magnetic field. The CFC scare was a lie and U bought that.

  7. I think it would take more than a day. China shut down factories and limited car usage 2 weeks before the Olympics to reduce smog. And as we all seen they still have smog.
