  1. No, only by checkmating your opponent, or them conceding can you win

  2. No way,totally wrong.

Switch from chess to Go if you're good at chess.

    Simpler rules,bigger complexity.

  3. Not when I play.

  4. no that is wrong, the object it to trap the king so he can't move without being captured

  5. I blieve that you have to capture the king not merely get him trapped over there in a stalemate.

  6. no

  7. No, thats not true and even if it is true its stupid to even try and get the king across, its pretty much suicide

  8. I think it depends on the variation of the rules that you play. In the traditional game, you have to get the opponent's king in checkmate- not getting your king to the other side- wins the game. (Sorry about the previous sentence. It doesn't make any sense, does it? Oh well. Have fun playing chess *most exciting game*. LOL)

  9. No.

  10. I don't think I've ever heard a rule like that...

  11. Not true, you are only occupying a space as if you were on any other space on the board...you win by checkmate of the opposing King.

  12. no but if you have to have your king all the way up there you probably are in deep trouble or else you wouldnt be up there in the first place

  13. No! Someone may be mixing checkers and chess for thier own hybrid. Let me guess, you lost... I've played chess for a long time and NEVER heard of that before. Some competitive players will put a limit on moves when one player is reduced to thier King. If check mate isn't accomplished by the end of the move limit, a stalemate is then called. The only time it pays off in chess is when you get a pawn across and get any piece in exchange. In checkers you would king me. But, you still wouldn't win in checkers until all your opponets pieces are gone.

  14. No, that does not happen in chess.  In checkers if you get one of your checkers all the way across the board you get a king, but that is the closest situation I can think of to the one you describe.

  15. Not according to the traditional rules...I think I have heard that before tho

  16. Nope...where did you hear a rule like that

the only thing that has anything to do w/ that is getting a pawn to the other side and exchanging pieces

  17. no its not..well i never played it like that..you always had to get the king in check mate to win the game..i have never heard of that reule before but u never know times are changing and there are alot of new rules for older board games like chess.  All i know is if you get your pawn over to the other side you get to take one of your men back
