  1. wint-o-gree only, the room has to be extra dark, my kids love to do it for their sister, it is fun. You do have to bite really hard and really fast, but the sparks will fly

    i love diet coke alot

  2. Wintergreen only sparks not peppermint.

  3. Yes, I have to say it's true as well.  Wint-o-green is the only flavor though that works.

  4. yes but it has to be the wint-o-green ones

i did it once at a camp i visited

they took us in the forest at night and gave us all a mint and told us to bite it with our mouth opened

    and everyones mouth sparked

    it was pretty crazy

  5. Andrea, reading & trying your answer has my teeth sore, but no sparks yet!

  6. Absolutely yes, you'll need the wintogreen variety, not sure if the others work, but get one and stand in front of the mirror in the dark, toss it in your mouth and quickly chew the h**l out of it.

This phenomenon is called triboluminescence and results from the breaking of sugar crystals. The sugar crystals split and emit UV radiation, which the wintogreen oil absorbs and re-emits in the visible spectrum

  7. Well if you ate one today, you should be able to answer your own question.

  8. new to me

  9. WINT-O-Green. Yes its true.

  10. Yes, it's true! I didn't believe it either. It's the Wint-o-green ones. Go in a dark room with a mirror, like a bathroom with the lights off. You have to chomp down really hard, but you'll see little sparks in the back of your mouth. I had to try it a few times to make it work.
