I was told that if you break off the leaves from the tomatoe plants that they will produce more and bigger fruit. They said that the leaves take most of the nutrients.

  1. no

  2. Partly true!   I like baby ducks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. That is partly true.  Leaves are there for increased support and once they are fully grown - they will help the tomato create ATP thru photosynthesis.  In order for them to grow - they will need to reach into the sugar sink and obtain nutrients.  I don't recommend you do it unless the leaf is dead - this is because dead leaves cannot do photosynthesis and will waste the plants energy since it supports the dead leaves.  The net gain of a healthy leaf that a tomato has is greater than the loss of a healthy leaf.
