Is it true that if you stare at a fish for a long time they can die?

I think my friend told me this and it soounds weird. But I don't believe her. Its dumb.

NO it's not true.

It's entirely possible for a fish to die while you're staring at it, but that won't be what killed it.  It's not like a person's eyes emit toxic, glass-penetrating beams to the fish.

I don't think so. I had a long, long staring competition with the puffer in a doctor's waiting room the other day and he suffered no ill effects.

If you stare at it for a couple of years it will probably die from old age but fish don't get stressed easy so I think it is a rumor.
