  1. Benefits to children end around the age of 18. The Social Security Administration writes:

    "Benefits also can be paid to your unmarried children if they are:

        * Younger than 18;

        * Between 18 and 19 years old, but in elementary or secondary school as full-time students; or

        * Age 18 or older and severely disabled (the disability must have started before age 22).

    If you become the parent of a child (including an adopted child) after you begin receiving benefits, let us know about the child, so we can decide if the child is eligible for benefits."

    This statement, of course, says nothing about college. I find nothing in the literature saying anything about paying college tuition for dependent's children, so I would answer 'no,' your children cannot go to college for free using social security disability benefits.

    Anytime you have questions, the Social Security website does a decent job and the toll free number will answer any questions that you feel are not explained. The Social Security Administration help number is: 1.800.772.1213.

  2. You might put that in an application for grant monies. This would indicate that you have low or no income. The grant people might ask for proof. The key here is to be first with your effort to obtain assistance. NEVER PAY ANY OF THESE COMPANIES FOR 'FREE MONEY.' That would be a scam and I wouldn't wish for anyone to go through that kind of mess. Write to some of the philantrophists such as the Kennedys, Rockefellers and other "robber barons." This will give you a better opportunity to gain much needed monies for college. I wish you well. Remember this: What shall we then say to these things? If GOD be for us, WHO can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with BENEFITS, even the GOD of our salvation. Selah. - Peace!!!

  3. No this is not true.  SS used to continue SS benefits to kids until 21 years of age if they were in college, but that rule changed in the early 80's.

  4. no
