Is it true that if your windshield is scratched your car won't pass inspection?

My windshield wipers weren't working right and now I have a scratch. Someone told me that my car won't pass inspection because this is a destraction. Is that true? It sounds like complete BS to me!

i have a scratch (kind of just like an etch, not too bad) in my windshield right in front of the driver.  it looks like it was caused by the wipers because of the shape of the scratch.

I passed inspection.  it's never failed an inspection since it was born in 2000.

but, i guess if the scratch is really bad, like to the point that it obstructs your view, then it might not pass.

Only if the scratch is blocking the inspectors view the yes it could be rejected, it is treated just like a crack.....

I could understand if it was a crack, but not a scratch..
