  1. No, it's just more global warming hype and foolishness.

  2. we wont drown . at least not all of us . and not in 10 years  . in 10 years the tropical zone will spread out past the tropic of cancer and those living closer to the waters will move inland .then the fun will begin . but this will take several centuries .

  3. Not 10 years.  Maybe 50-100.

  4. You friend has the brain capacity of a flea. Sorry, but maybe a new friend is on order.

  5. I hope so. Did you see the movie water world? It was freakin awesome. I want gills. And a trimaran.

If the waters do rise, it wont be quick enough to kill anyone. Unless you were a handicapped sloth.  A handicapped sloth with weights tied to you. Big weights.

  6. no, even a worst case scenario is a sea level rise of 59cm (23 in) by 2100. not relay enough to worry most people unless you live right on a delta.

although you dont need to worry about seas rising you should be alittle concerned about it because it has the potential to change life as we know it. global temps are predicted to rise between 1.1 and 6.4 °C (2.0 and 11.5 °F) by 2100 this will have major implications for agriculture which will have knock on effects throughout the economy.

  7. Then again, we may be at the 'tipping point' of global cooling according to GISS (part of NASA). See the link below. Global temps plummeted .75 C in Jan 08 compared to Jan 07. That's more than the temp increase in the entire past century.

Another way to characterize this is to say the weather can change without panic-driven actions that would wreak untold havoc in the world by cutting emissions to 50% of the 1990 level.

  8. Your friend is confusing what some call the "tipping point" with what will actually happen in 10 years.  In 10 years, at worst, we may see 3 - 10 centimeters rise in the sea level and 0.2 - 0.4 C average global warming.

The "tipping point" is about what will happen if we don't start trying to reduce the human-caused green house gases in the atmosphere before 10 years.  It takes a long time to change how we generate electricity and transport people around.  So we can't sudden decide in 2018 to stop emitting CO2. And once CO2 is in the atmosphere it will continue to have a warming effect for centuries.  The idea is that if we start seriously acting within 10 years, we can keep the levels of CO2 low enough that the warming won't cause severe problems.

  9. Absolutely!  I'm offering to buy all the beach homes from the Hollywood elites and Limousine Liberals, for 10% of their cost.  That's a deal when you factor in the "fact" that they'll be underwater in 5 years.  No takers yet.  What are they waiting for?

    Phone lines are open.

  10. What do you mean as in "Overflow"?

  11. Lets think about this, 3/4 of the Earth is already covered with water of the last 1/4 only a small percentage has any Glacial  ice formations (any sea ice is already displacing the same amount of water as its liquid form so no rise in level there). The likelihood of of a water world scenario will never happen. Remember that during the last ice age glaciers formed as far south as the pan handle of Texas. which is considerably more ice than is left sitting on any land mass today.

P.S. It would be cool to have gills and webbed feet.
