  1. Ya it is true in Australia people don't worry about even they are bare feet perhaps coz of cleanliness.

  2. I live in Melbourne and I can assure you that only the ferals would walk around in barefeet!  Thongs (aka flip flops in some countries) are the footwear of summer :)

  3. I don't know about Australia but here in South Africa it a very common sight at weekends or when people are not at work.

  4. h**l yeah --- where i live in north queensland shoes are taboo --- we don't have heaters or electric blankets and so on .

but to answer your question proparly --- no shoe day is every day in the tropics .

    good luck .

  5. Well, I can only speak to my brief visit to Perth / Freemantle with the US Navy in 1996... Yes, I saw LOTS of happy bare-footed young ladies and lads !!

In San Diego, I went with barefeet and shorts as often as I could !!  Here in the Philippines, I only wear shoes to work and church !!

  6. Of course. As is in many other tropical countries.I spent some time in Aussie and did it too and in other hot countries. Why do you think this is unusual?

  7. I live in Australia and I must say that people here are very relaxed and laid back, though such a habit is probably more common during the summer months due to the scorching hot weather and people's tendency to going to the beaches.  I personally haven't seen anyone barefoot on the public trains though, it would be quite disgusting if they did because the trains are incredibly filthy.
