Is it true that in China you can only have 1 child?

Yes you can have more than one child polity.

The one child thing is a polity not law....

Depending on what part of the one child polity you will be fine if you have more than 1,2,3 or 5 children.

Each of these limits are set depend on if you come from single parents, if your an ethnic minority and there you live.

well everybody is saying that it is true but i have chinese friends at my school and they have brothers and sisters.

  my friend Yuki Liu has a brother and Nicole Ma has a brother and Sherry lau has a sister

so i dont know why people are saying this

Under normal circumstances, yes. But there are important exceptions. I think in rural communities, if your first is a daughter you can have a second one. If both couples were single children themselves, they can have two. Most minority groups can have 2.

Yeah there is a rule that you can only have 1 child. It is to help slow down the increasing population of china. If you have a second child you are fined. Most families move to another country because of their second child. For example, my friend is the illegal second child. THey had to hide her when she was a toddler when they were moving out of china.

Yes, by law you can only have one. But if you want more, they will impose heavy fines on you. There are families who have more than one child but they pay a price for it.

Yes, it's so overpopulated over there that they can only have one child, and if they have a girl they're pretty much scre*wed because most of them only want little boys to continue the name or whatever. I think if they have one child and the baby is a girl they can try again for a boy but if they have another girl than they are reeeally scre*wed.

If they have a second child than they are fined I believe.

If your first child is a boy.there goes the one child policy, but if you want another child be it  either s*x,then you're subject to some fine.But if your first child is a girl ,then you 're allowed to conceive again 'till you get a boy,with no fine.

You can only have 1 child. If you want to have a 2nd, you have to pay a lot of money. I heard some people abandon their daughters just to get a son. Kind of sad..
