Question:

Is it true that in Japan people (or some people) tongue-kiss their dogs?

I visited Japan as a high-school student and stayed with a host family, and the mother in the family sticks her tongue out when the pet dog licks her face (so the dog licks her tongue). And my friend, who also went to Japan (at a different time) said her host family did the same thing with their dog.

Is this a common thing to do, or pure coincidence that both our host families tongue-kissed their dogs?

(NOT being racist, this really actually happened and I'm curious about it it seems kinda weird.)

  1. That's too weird too me. People have taken this dog thing too far. Some don't get it. You do love animals/pets. But you don't love them like you love people, because their not.

  2. I can't speak for the whole of Japan, but I can tell you I've lived in Tokyo for quite some time now and have quite a few Japanese friends.  I frequently visit their homes for BBQ's, tea, or just to hang out.  I have NEVER seen such a thing.

However, it is worth mentioning that there are odd things that some people will do, no matter where in the world you are.

  3. No, it's not common. I've never seen my parents, relatives and friends do that with their pet. And of course I don't want to do that with my pet, either.

  4. It is not a common thing for Japanese.

9 out of 10 do not such tongue-kissed their dogs.

    Japanese are sanitary people.  lol.

  5. Of course this is not a custom! Most couples even do not tongue-kiss each other, let alone their dog!

  6. I've seen several people do it in the U.S. I don't think its popular in Japan alone. Some people are just dog crazy.

  7. No I have seen many americans do that to there dog.

There this one woman who lives close by and she does that with her dog.
