  1. Alaska is a huge state. It all depends on where you are thinking about. The further north and west you go the more extreme the light/darkness goes. It is odd to be able to sit outside at 2:00am and be able to read a newspaper!


  2. Quite possibly. Part of Alaska is within the Arctic Circle, and when you are located there, some time in winter, the sun does not rise. In contrast, in summer, there are a set of consecutive days that the sun does not set, either.

  4. Well my friends went to Alaska on a trip and she said that usually there's only like 5 hours of the day when theres actul sunlight

  5. In Barrow the sun never comes above the horizon from November 18th to January 24th. And then during the summer from May 10th to August 2nd the sun never goes below the horizon.

    In Anchorage, however, the shortest day is just barely over seven hours and the longest is almost 20 hours. However, it is not really dark during the summer. It is a twilight darkness. Just beautiful.
