  1. Kind of.  The first three numbers of your social are the based on the zip code listed on your card application. The second two numbers are a group code that breaks up each area's numbers into groups of ten thousand cards. Two social security cards issued in the same area at around the same time will have the same two middle digits, but they don't necessarily indicate a particular year.  They also have nothing to do with when the person was born.  Just when they applied for the card.

  2. I don't think so.  My sons were born in 1979 and 1981.  Their numbers are consecutive, only the last digit is different.  They got them at the same time, but they weren't born in the same year.

I've also seen people who move here from other countries have consecutive numbers, you know, like a husband and wife from somewhere would have gotten their numbers at the same time, and they only have the last digit different.

  3. No the social security numbers are more of a location code of birth. My two brothers and I all have the same two numbers  in the middle and we were born 4 and 5 years apart.

I believe it has more to do with the location of application as my brothers and I were born in separate states .
