  1. I hope that there are still schools using corporal punishment.  The schools don't control the kids any longer the kids run the schools.

  2. It's illegal in some states but legal in others.  I don't know how much it's used where it's legal since I (thankfully) don't live in one of the states where it's legal.

  3. It's still allowed in some private schools, with parental consent.

  4. I just heard on CNN this morning that Georgia is attempting to pass a new bill that allows spanking in schools with a paddle. I couldn't believe my ears! I don't think it will pass, though. I know I sure wouldn't let a teacher spank my child. I think that needs to stay in the home.

  5. Yes. This is a list of the states that allow it. http://school.familyeducation.com/classr...

  6. It is still allowed in 23 states. an additional one is considering reinstating it. I think that it should be allowed in school. All that time out stuff doesn't work anyhow.

  7. They were still using it when I was in middle school, but parents could sign a form saying they didn't want corporal punishment applied to their child.  This was back in the early 90s, though.  I'm not sure if it's still around now.

  8. I just heard a guy say that in Georgia they are bringing corporal punishment back in to a school there. There's no way anyone is going to lay a hand on my child. Heck NO!

  9. 23 states still allow corporal punishment in school and here they are...I live in CT where it is illegal thank God. I think it's ridiculous that it is even still used in any school.

  10. yep i live in so. oklahoma and in a lot of schools down here if u sign a form it is still used.

  11. Yes, the private school I went to still had it in their policies. However, they would have to call the parent and get permission before they actually administered it.

  12. It is still used at the school in my home town.  Parents can request that their children not be spanked but the other options are generally designed to be worse.  Typically when they offer students the choice of punishments they choose the swats instead of suspension or in school suspension.  Teenagers tend to be more devastated by removing them from their social circles.

    (I'm talking about public schools!)
