Question:

Is it true that in the USA young women are already so poor that they are forced to turn to prostitution ?

They're driven to prostitution and wealthier men are taking advantage of poorer young women.

Or take jobs where they are assaulted sexually because they have no power to sue as the law only looks after wealthy people.

Is this the hidden face of the United States compared to those sophisticated and well pampered women that we see winning multi million dollar law suits ?

  1. Have you ever met a prostitute other than when you bought her time?

I can tell you, from having worked and milited alongside them, that prostitution, or s*x work, though the result of coercion and lack of choice in some instances, can also be an economic choice in other cases.

I would ask you, why is pornography legal and prostitution not? Why is the act of soliciting illegal, but the act of buying a s*x worker's time is not?

The biggest problems that I have heard reported about s*x work, from s*x workers themselves, is not the fact that they are engaging in s*x work or that they have been forced into it, but the fact that what is illegal about their line of work is everything they must do to protect themselves.

It is not illegal for a man to pay woman for s*x, and it is not illegal for a woman to sell her sexual favours or accept money in return. What is illegal is for her to negotiate those terms.

This is another case of legislating morality, and the moral judgement is that selling your body or your sexual favours or exchanging them is wrong.

In truth, s*x workers will often express that to them this is just work, and I tend to agree with their position. When I go to work, I am selling my presence and my mind and intellectual favours to my employer. Whether I am selling intellectual favours or sexual favours, I am still renting myself and my labour. Everyone is, and there are many people coerced into employment that is undesirable for them. Rather than making judgement calls on people's occupations and assumptions on whether or not they have chosen them it would be more helpful to listen to what they have to say about it themselves. The stereotypical image of a prostitute in a basement or working the street corner is a fraction of reality perpetuated by the media and popular culture. It goes so much deeper than that.

The main issues with sexual assault in s*x work is that they have no legal recourse because their line of work is, get this, not illegal, but criminalized.

If you do care about the plight of s*x workers I would encourage you to learn more about their profession and their conditions of employment and the issues that they raise themselves, such as the criminalization of their line of work, lack of legal recourse if they need protection, illegality of doing anything that will protect them such as negotiating the terms of the deal, and destigmatizing the occupation so that those who wish to come out of it are not ostracized in the mainstream workforce.

  2. I think it's more of a moral/social decay issue.  There was a true story of some young girls hanging out in gaming rooms at the mall.  Some were prostituting themselves for extra money.

If you have money, it's easier today to get an amateur woman in bed.  However most of those girls/women are on drugs.  Overall the poor are getting poorer and the rich are getting richer.

America has a real crisis...and the bad economy doesn't help.

  3. no, this is not true

  4. honey - this kind of stuff doesn't only happen in America - open your eyes as well as your ears.  where are you from?

  5. No it is not true.

  6. shouldn't you be asking yourself the same question?

  7. The US is an industrialized country where young women who choose prostitution were not "forced" into it. You could be sexually assaulted in almost any job, and any woman that is can press charges and receive a trial. A lot of women don't because they are afraid to do it. Think they will be humiliated or have their personal lives revealed for all to see.

  8. I think male or female youth must look for a "hustle" (extra means of income) in the states... as for prostitution it is something very tempting b/c of the amt of money you can get anything from $300-$10,000 a week... I am now 19 and lived in NYC til i was 18... an escorting was something i looked in to... i never did it but ha many interviews you can say and just the fact the business was controlled by men turned me off... i mean they have real interviews lol but how the guy would look at you .. na i couldn''t do it.. and they would say they woul have to "try" you out and guy toke me to **** in a TGIF bathroom i was like this guy takes me here! how the h**l is he gonna pay me 10Gs a week so i left n he was pretty pissed i guess he got too excitied to try me out... nonetheless i found a real hustle i did faux lashes on the weekend an that got me a couple hundred every weekend once i got clientel... i mean i am femme so thas good for me but i figure for males it's easy to turn to drug distribution- even that i dabbled in cuz i got an innocent look goin on....

yes i totally agree with your statement that the law only looks after the wealthy... it's not on purpose but only the wealthy can afford a good azz lawyer...and those who get court appointed are usually cared for by lawyers who don't even know your name (literally until they look at your file), think your uilty anyways, and just hate their lives

the only thing close to prostitution/escort i got to was working in a dungeon it was fun... i mean i was prob taking all the business from these old fat b*****s that worke there i would $200 an hour at best and all i did was literally dress up d********x style, curse out the guys, pinch some nipples, whip, step on em, some even liked "golden showers" where you pee on em lmao that **** was funny but then i started seein the dudes around with their wives and kids and these guys were wall st execs, lawyers, brokers, i had 2 reg councilmen...but nonetheless it paid my tuition  and i didn't have to get naked or them touching me

  9. As long as there has been s*x and money, there has been prostitution.  It is the oldest profession in the world.  I wouldn't say there is an increase in prostitution, I would say that media has just sensationalized it recently with all of the politicians that have been involved in it.  The only reason the media is reporting on it is because it is an election year coming up and the media loves scandal.  Politicians have always been buying prostitutes.  It comes with the job.

  10. hahaha, is this some perverted fantasy of yours? Since more women then men are graduating high school and going to college, the whole idea doesn't work =] good laugh though

and being sexually assaulted at work is rare, and happens too guys to. Most women, unlike the post above me states, are not that scared to sue. Please do some research before just babbling away.

  11. In the US you really have a million options to make it in this world, (granted some people do have more obstacale to get past). Those who are of sound mind and body are not really driven into anything. Some may turn to this but this is usually due to lack of ambition or addiction.

  12. There is always two sides to every story. Prostitution can be seen as exploitation of men's biological urges - especially lonely or rejected men - by women who are sufficiently cynical/drug dependent not to care about the moral dimensions of prostitution.

    Some facts:

95% of a women surveyed in US prostitutes' organization said they were not coerced into prostitution http://www.wendymcelroy.com/x*x/addendum...

1% of American women have worked as a prostitute
