Huh?  Where did you hear that?  There will always be people trying to slide by and use other people's work through college, but that's not that common in a university.  People who are in a university or college take their schooling seriously because they are paying for it (not in all cases thanks to rich parents) and hopefully they have morals and ethics not to do that.


  2. It really depends on the school, the program, and the people involved.  There will always be some slackers that try to copy off others' work (or, in a group work environment, let the other people do the work and then share in the credit), but it really varies.

    Courses that are 'honors' or more advanced usually have less of that behavior than the basic beginner-level classes because the students in those higher-level courses care more about being there and want to do well.  Courses that fulfill general education requirements for the university typically have more of the cheating because the subjects won't necessarily be interesting to the students who are only taking them to fill the requirement.

    I personally found that graduate school and small (20 or fewer students), honors-level courses were the best as far as everyone contributing fairly to group work.
