  1. If your talking about the speaker wires, then no. Speaker wires or LFE wires have nothing to do with the system.  The only thing you need to keep cool is the receiver.


  2. no that wont help you much. i would keep the receiver cool though by not turning it up too loud for too long and by making sure nothing is placed on top of it.

    What does help with heat is to use a self-powered subwoofer, then tell the receiver the other 5 speakers are "SMALL".  The bass-management circuit will then send all the power-hungry low-frequency sounds to the self powered sub and the higher frequency sounds to your other speakers.

    This reduces the amount of power your receiver needs to provide and keeps it cooler and increases the life span.

    It also can provide superior sound.  Having a single source of low-frequency in the room gives you options to place the sub.  The location of the left/right/center speakers is almost NEVER the best spot.
