A friend was telling me that if I wanted to get surgery it would be cheaper and safer if I did it at a college university, or a doctor affiliated with a university. He said that there would be a better chance you'd get a very qualified doctor, and that you'd be able to sue the university for a lot of money if the doctor screwed up or actually wasn't qualified enough. Is there any truth to this?

  1. plastic surgery is not cool.........as to suing yes they will have the means to pay you if mal practice is done.  But honestly i do not believe any doctor at a University will do plastic surgery for you

  2. I've never heard of something so bogus.

  3. University = teaching facility = residents in training.

You'll be learned on.  If that's OK with you, go for it.

I'd avoid July, though.  July 1 is when the new interns start, and upper level residents have just been promoted to the next level with new responsibilities.  (We have to adjust our anesthesia to account for new trainees learning new stuff)
